Life Celebration of Derek Truesdale

May 22, 2021

In May we held a memorial service to remember Derek’s life. Derek meant a lot to people at Ren and the surrounding community. Many remember his warm greeting at the front door of Ren, his hard-working, generous spirit. Pastor Scott, Asa Sohn, Ellie Goldberg, and best friend Marc Williams shared a few memories, and attendees could write down their own of Derek to be put in a memory book for his family. It was a special service remembering our friend who made many feel valued, important and protected. We miss you, Derek.

Life Reflections of Derek Truesdale

Derek Truesdale departed this life on January 7, 2021, in Providence, Rhode Island. A native of Charlotte, NC, he was born on May 9, 2970, to the late Pedro Truesdale Sr. and Delores Truesdale. He attended Harding High School. After high school, he became a welder. Derek was known by many for his talent and love for dancing and fashion. He made sure to coordinate his wardrobe from head to toe. He had a creative imagination and always brought laughter to those around him. Although much of his adult life was spent in Rhode Island, he often stayed connected with friends and family.

He was proceed in death by his two brothers: Walt Frazier and Pedro Truesdale Jr.

He leaves to mourn his fiancé Lori Hill and his daughter Trinity Truesdale. Derek’s love had no boundaries as he was like a father to Lauri’s two children: Latoya and Shaun and Lori’s six grandchildren who affectionately called him “papa Derek.” He also leaves to mourn his mother, Delores Truesdale, three brothers Anthony Frazier, Gerald Frazier, and Maxwell Trusdale Sr. (Temeka), and one sister Adrienne Gearheart. He also leaves to mourn a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews.
