Jesus, even though he is the Son of God, came to Earth to serve humans, not to be served by us. As we attempt to do this too, we quickly discover that we cannot make it work in our own power, and merely performing acts of service for others is not enough to make us like Jesus. The culture of service that is to mark the Church requires the empowering of the Holy Spirit, and it results in a heart change in us so that we become servants, not just people who sometimes serve.
